TT.RR.HH Prince Paul and Princess Lia laid a wreath at the Heroes Monument of the National Defense University "Carol I" in Bucharest

The weekend 23 to 24 August, TT.RR.HH Prince Paul and Princess Lia laid a wreath at the Heroes Monument of the National Defense University "Carol I" in Bucharest and was attended by the Secretary of State Otilia Sova, members of the Academy military and veterans at a gala ceremony in the Marble Hall of the The National Military Circle in Bucharest.

This event was organized by the National Association of War Veterans to commemorate August 23, 1944, ordering the immediate cessation time Romanian collaboration with the Axis Powers and the Allies crossing the country.

HRH honored both country soldiers and war veterans who fought for freedom in Romania. HRH Prince Paul regrets the day of 23 August 1944, a day that marks an important moment in history in the events of the Second World War, did not became a national holiday, a day of remembrance. On 23 August 2014, 70 years after the historic moment, at the wreaths were present very few politicians and representatives of state institutions. Many politicians believe, yet, on August 23, 1944, as it was taught in school, a coup that marked the start of communism in Romania, when in reality the coup, communist, held on 6 March 1945.

We must respect and honor veterans and homeland heroes pass on to our descendants, the truth about history.
